Dr. Aquino was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He completed his undergraduate and medical school training at Dalhousie University. Post-graduate training was done at the uOttawa completing a residency in Diagnostic Radiology in 1992 and a fellowship in Interventional Radiology in 1993.

Dr. Aquino holds an academic appointment with the Faculty as Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology and has been an active radiologist at TOH in the Department of Medical Imaging since 1995. He has previously served as Section Head, Vascular/Interventional in the Department of Medical Imaging and Director of Medical Imaging Fellowship Programs at the Faculty.

Dr. Aquino is a strong advocate for medical education through his work with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in the Diagnostic Radiology examination process. His experience includes serving a five-year term as an executive member of the Diagnostic Radiology Examination Board and has over ten years of experience as an examiner for the oral component of the examination process. He has held the position of regional representative on the Specialty Committee for Diagnostic Radiology since 2010 and starting Jan 2014, he will be the Chair of the Committee.
