The Centres for Nursing Excellence offer nurses at The Ottawa Hospital  resources and opportunities to be leaders in the nursing profession.  The mandate of the Centres is to support exceptional nursing practice through education, research, and professional development.

The Centres are available 24/7, and provide access to computers and other resources, as well as personal consultation with a nurse advisor. The Centres also provide information about upcoming conferences, certification, and professional opportunities.

The Centres, located at each of TOH’s campuses, house these innovations within a centralized, visible location. They provide a dedicated space for nurses to meet and work collaboratively on professional practice issues. The Centres facilitate scholarship through the application and integration of new knowledge into the discipline of nursing. Through the use of information technology the Centres encourage nurses to create, implement and evaluate innovative strategies within all domains of nursing practice. These activities help to facilitate excellence in patient care at TOH.

Resources at the Centres can help with:

• Resumes, job applications, and interviews
• Developing and implementing research projects
• Using computers and accessing information
• Participating in conferences and educational opportunities
• Returning to university to complete Baccalaureate, Masters, and PhD degrees
• Accessing funding for professional development
• Networking with other nurses
