December 23, 2015 – The Ottawa Hospital would like to wish the residents of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario a happy and healthy holiday season!

The hospital is prepared to care for you and your loved ones should you need us during this holiday season. Over the holiday period, we do reduce some schedules for elective procedures and clinic visits. However, our hospital remains fully staffed for patients who arrive in our Emergency Department, and for those who need emergent care or urgent diagnoses and treatment.

Family Presence
Patients may welcome visits from their loved ones at any time. We’d like to remind you that even during the holidays, patients do require rest and quiet time, and that we must balance the wishes and needs of all patients and families in each room. If you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of a cold or respiratory illness, please do not visit until you are better.

Scent-free policy
The Ottawa Hospital’s scent-free policy is meant to protect patients, visitors and staff with sensitivities and allergies to scented products. It is easy to forget that you are wearing scented products when you visit on your way to a holiday party. Unfortunately, this can result in severe reactions that lead to debilitating migraines, respiratory effects and may inadvertently impact members of the team caring for your loved one.
