The Ottawa Hospital Organ and Tissue Donation Program formally acknowledges the kindness and generosity of organ and tissue donors and their families through our annual Organ and Tissue Donor Recognition Reception. Without their compassion for others, life-saving and life-enhancing transplants would not be possible.

In 2004, we honoured 101 families. The ceremony was held in the West Block of Parliament Hill, and hosted by the Honourable Gilbert Parent, Ambassador of the Environment.

They were presented with a National Medal of Recognition. We have been told that loved ones, who sometimes feel their altruistic gifts go unnoticed, cherish this concrete form of appreciation.
