Honorata Bittner, Executive Vice-President & Chief Strategy and People Officer

Honorata Bittner is the Executive Vice-President & Chief Strategy and People Officer at The Ottawa Hospital. In this role she is responsible for providing strategic advice and counsel to the President & CEO and to support and facilitate cross departmental relationships to address high profile projects and issues. In addition, she is responsible for various aspects of the people strategy related to staff safety, occupational health and wellness, conflict resolution and labour relations, staff engagement as well as equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility including French language services. She is also the executive that oversees the hospital’s indigenous engagement framework. Through her collaborative leadership style, she fosters relationships to achieve corporate strategic objectives at the hospital and within the community. She is known for her ability to assess and simplify complex issues and create action plans that lead to success.

After graduating from the John Molson School of Business, at Concordia University, Honorata began a career in healthcare working with Ontario’s Physician Services Committee (PSC) in Toronto.  In her role as a member of the secretariat she assisted in implementing the PSC strategic directions and the physician master agreement that guides the delivery of physician services in Ontario.  In 2005, Honorata continued her career in healthcare planning at The Ottawa Hospital where she worked with the VP Medical Affairs in preparing the pandemic response plan for the hospital, a plan that would be implemented a few years later during the H1N1 influenza pandemic. In 2006, Honorata moved to the office of the President & CEO and was soon promoted to Director of Executive Offices and later as Director of Strategic Initiatives and Integration.  In 2018, Honorata was appointed to represent The Ottawa Hospital at the convening partners leadership table of the newly approved Ottawa Ontario Health Team which she has co-chaired for the past two years.  In 2020, Honorata was appointed Chief Strategy Officer and in 2022 was promoted to her current role. 

Honorata immigrated to Canada from Poland with her parents in the early 80’s. She was raised in Montreal but has called Ottawa home for the past 17 years. She is fluent in both official languages as well as Polish and has begun learning Italian. She has a passion for learning new skills and keeps her curiosity about worldwide events satisfied through podcasts and her love of reading. She is the proud mom to Miko and Gaja and takes great pleasure in exploring the beauty of the Canadian outdoors with them through her passion for cross country skiing, hiking and canoe camping.
