Dr. Wylam Faught is currently Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Newborn Care at The Ottawa Hospital, and University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine. Wylam graduated from medicine in 1986. He completed his residency training at the University of Ottawa in 1992 followed by a fellowship program in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Manitoba. In 2001 he completed the Educational Scholars Program with the Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO).

Wylam is a seasoned leader having held the position of Professor and Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Alberta, Chief of Women’s Health, Royal Alexandra Hospital. In 2007 he served one term as Professor and Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ottawa Hospital, University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. He is a past-president of the Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada (APOG), past chair of the APOG Postgraduate Directors Committee, a past council member at both the Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada (SOGC) and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada (GOC), and a past board member of Ovarian Cancer Canada, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and the Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health.

Wylam is actively involved in gynecologic oncology clinical care, research and education in Ottawa and internationally. He has taught surgical and obstetrical skills in Tanzania with the Canadian Network for International Surgery (CNIS) and gynecologic oncology at Moi University, Kenya.

Wylam is an avid skier and hiker. He is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, and a member of both the Alpine Club of Canada and the Appalachian Mountain Club. He has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, trekked the Everest Base Camp route in Nepal and completed the Tour de Mont Blanc through Switzerland, Italy and France. He, his wife, Katie, and their children Liam, Aidan and Emma, enjoy spending time in the Canadian Rockies, and at their cottage near Calabogie, Ontario.
