Nursing students are welcome at TOH in three different kinds of placements:

  1. Group Clinical Placement
Students are accompanied by a clinical instructor. The objective for the placement is to practice clinical skills learned in the school.
  2. Preceptorship / Consolidation/ Pre-graduate Experience
Students are on a clinical unit for an extended period of time varying from 6 to 16 weeks and  preceptored by an experienced TOH nurse. The purpose of this placement is to consolidate the students’ knowledge into the clinical setting. Students in consolidation are required to sign individual Confidentiality Agreement prior to the commencement of the placement.

All student placement requests must come from the school and be accompanied by clear objectives for the placement. TOH Nursing uses the Health Student Placement Network placement network (HSPnet).  Further information about placements can be found on HSPnet.

Information about nursing student placements at TOH, including requirements for placement, affiliation agreements and requests for placements should be made to Nursing Student Placements nsp@toh.ca
