September 12, 2016 – The Ottawa Hospital welcomes this next step in the National Capital Commission’s site selection process for the new Civic campus.
As one of the stakeholders, we have provided the NCC with details and expert opinion on what needs to be considered for a new hospital to deliver 21st century healthcare.
Each of the proposed sites announced today will have benefits and challenges impacting health care delivery, infrastructure, cost, community and environmental factors. Our commitment is to support the NCC process. Our responsibility, as the region’s leading health care provider, is to ensure that stakeholders and the public have all of the necessary information to provide well informed feedback and input during the NCC consultation process.
Replacing our 92 year old Civic Campus, is a question of urgency and priority. The Civic Campus cares for the most critically ill and is the designated regional centre for major trauma for Ottawa, eastern Ontario and west Quebec. Selecting the right site is critical, as the impact of this decision will be felt well into the next century.
