The Ottawa Hospital and Ottawa Public Health have declared a COVID-19 outbreak, involving 4 staff members at the Civic Campus Emergency Department.

Because of the importance of this infection, the decision to declare an outbreak was made by TOH in conjunction with Ottawa Public Health, and is beneficial to enhance staff and patient safety.

The hospital has taken additional precautions to reduce the spread of the virus, and protect patients and staff. This includes expanding staff lounge areas to enhance physical distancing, increasing cleaning frequency throughout the Emergency Department and in staff lounge areas, and ensuring that everyone who enters the area is wearing PPE at all times.

All appropriate infection prevention and control precautions to protect those within the Emergency Department remain in place. It is safe to come to the Emergency Department. If you are in need of emergency medical care, please come to the Emergency Department. Staff are ready to care for you in the safest way possible.
