Dr. Virginia Roth appointed as Chief of Staff at The Ottawa Hospital

An advocate for patient experience, Dr. Roth will continue to lead The Ottawa Hospital in providing patient- and family-centred care.

OTTAWA – Jan. 24, 2018 – The Ottawa Hospital Board of Governors has appointed Dr. Virginia Roth as Chief of Staff to the approximately 1,400 physicians affiliated with The Ottawa Hospital. Prior to her appointment, Dr. Roth served as Senior Medical Officer at The Ottawa Hospital, overseeing areas such as patient advocacy and medical affairs.

Dr. Roth is an infectious diseases specialist with more than 60 scientific publications to date, and is a full professor in the Department of Medicine and the School of Epidemiology, Public Health and Preventative Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

A native of Kitchener-Waterloo, Dr. Roth joined The Ottawa Hospital in 2000 after her work as an epidemic intelligence service officer at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. She holds an Executive MBA from the Telfer School of Management. As Director of Infection Control, Dr. Roth played an essential role during the Ebola, SARS and H1N1 crises.
