Caring for a high volume of multiple pregnancy patients provides a unique perspective on disease patterns affecting these special pregnancies. Many clinical questions arise from our interactions with parents expecting multiple births which can only be answered through research. The MFM Division at TOH strives to offer up-to-date, evidence-based care of multiple pregnancies and therefore leads several research projects that could help to inform the best care possible for our patients. The list below highlights the various research themes that have or are being addressed in research. It includes both published work, research in progress and presentations at national and international medical meetings, organized by individual research themes.

These research themes include:

  • Screening for growth disorders in twin pregnancy
  • Prediction of preterm birth in triplets
  • Delivery Issues affecting multiple pregnancies
  • Screening for anomalies in multiple pregnancy
  • Treatment of special conditions affecting monochorionic twins
