Claudio Silvestri Vice-President and Chief Information Officer at NAV CANADA

Mr. Silvestri has an extensive background in the IT industry and diverse experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives to increase the effectiveness and contribution of information technology within a variety of organizations.

As Vice-President and Chief Information Officer at NAV CANADA from May 2008 until August 2020 he was responsible for providing executive leadership, direction and oversight of the Information Technology (IT) function for the Corporation including cyber security and IT governance.

In 2017 Mr. Silvestri was named Canadian CIO of The Year by the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) in recognition of his leadership and vision in leading NAV CANADA’s digital, cloud and mobile technology transformations.

Prior to joining NAV CANADA, Mr. Silvestri was the Vice President and CIO at Cognos Inc. where he was responsible for world-wide IT services. He was also the Group Vice President and CIO for Business Objects/Crystal Decisions with global responsibilities.

Prior to 2003, Mr. Silvestri held senior executive business, engineering and technology roles at Microsoft Canada and Compaq Canada.

Mr. Silvestri is a member of The Ottawa Hospital Board of Governors and serves on the Finance and Audit Committee as well as the New Civic Campus Stakeholder Development Committee.

Mr. Silvestri is a past member of the Board of Directors at the Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange (CCTX) which is a national organization that serves Canadian industry, both private and public, by helping them collaborate to reduce cyber security risks.

Additionally, Mr. Silvestri is the past President and Chair of Christie Lake Kids which is an Ottawa based not-for-profit organization serving disadvantaged youth in the Ottawa valley region.

Appointed in 2017 until 2023.
