Elective Referral

Inpatient (ATLAS facility/ TOH):

  1. EPIC order: CON509 (Inpatient Consult Hyperbaric Medicine)
  2. Must also phone call the HMU at 613-737-8966 during weekday working hours to confirm receipt of order

Outpatient (ATLAS facility/TOH):

  1. EPIC order: Select “Orders for Ambulatory Care/Visit AND
  2. New Order: REF282 (Ambulatory Referral to Hyperbaric Medicine)
  3. If no response within 3 business days, call HMU during weekdays at 613-737-8966

Outpatient Referral (External):

  1. Fax Referral 613-737-8965

Emergency after-hours Referral:

ATLAS facility/TOH:

  1. EPIC order: CON509 (Inpatient Consult Hyperbaric Medicine) AND
  2. Page Hyperbaric Medicine Physician on call through TOH Locating 613-737-8899 extension: 78222

External facility:

  1. Call CRITICALL Ontario at 1-800-668-4357 AND Fax Referral 613-737-8965

For non-emergency questions, please call the HMU during regular operating hours.

After-hours emergencies, please present yourself to the nearest emergency department. For physicians making after-hours emergency referrals please call CRITICALL Ontario 1-800-668-4357.

Location

The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus, 2nd floor, M2392

Directions:

  • Follow the Critical Care Wing (CCW) & Cancer Centre Parking signs to the rear of the building.
  • At the first stop, turn left then right for the parking gates. Remember to bring your parking pass inside to pay when leaving.
  • Take the elevators behind the staircase to the 2nd floor, go straight out of the elevator, and pass two round pillars at the Intensive Care Unit.
  • At the hallway intersection, go left through automatic blue doors, then go through the next automatic door on the right.
  • You will see the sign for the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit on the ceiling in front of the door.
  • Please bring your health care along with a list of medication, if any.
  • If you require assistance finding our office, please ask a nearby volunteer in a blue vest, or call us at 613-737-8966. Our telephones are monitored from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday.
