Teamwork across The Ottawa Hospital led to our Accredited with Commendation result.
Few hospitals achieve Accredited with Commendation results, but The Ottawa Hospital earned it, meaning that we surpassed the fundamental requirements of Accreditation Canada (AC). Plus, AC approved eight of the hospitals leading practices and posted them on its website to serve as examples to others.
“This is a tremendous achievement,” said Dr. Jack Kitts, The Ottawa Hospital President and CEO. “We have a nationwide reputation as a leader.”
AC has also asked Drs. Kitts and Worthington to come to an AC board meeting to discuss The Ottawa Hospital’s experiences – the first hospital ever to be invited.
Accreditation Canada surveyors visit The Ottawa Hospital (and other hospitals and health-care organizations) every four years to examine how well we’re meeting standards and make recommendations, which help us develop our action plans for quality improvements.
