To the community of Ottawa and surrounding area, I am writing this parting letter to you.
To all of you who have come to The Ottawa Hospital in a time of need, thank you for putting your trust in us.
To those who have shared your experience at the hospital with me, your insights have made us better.
To the donors, volunteers, patient advisors and committee members, your support has been and remains essential.
All of you have helped The Ottawa Hospital become the world-class hospital it is today. It fills me with pride and gratitude to see how much we have grown and all that we have accomplished together.
I will always cherish how you have supported and celebrated our staff over the years – and especially in the past few months. It warms my heart to know that you are there for them, as they are there for you.
Looking ahead, with your support, we will build a 21st-century hospital that reflects the community’s vision, supports a healthier city and values kindness, compassion, research and innovation.
As a parent and grandparent myself, I couldn’t be any more hopeful for the future of health care in Ottawa.

Congratulations Dr. Kitts! Having worked at the Ottawa Hospital’s General campus for much of my nursing career, I can honestly say it was the best 15 years of my career. I had the pleasure of meeting you, as a “doctor” when one of your anesthesia residents did not show for my pre-op visit. You were gracious, knowledgeable and pleasant as I was post nights! Enjoy your retirement! It is well deserved.
I really enjoyed working with you in the case room (Labour and delivery). 1980’s – 90’s

Congratulations Dr. Kitts for all you have done for the Ottawa Heart Institute, for Ottawa and the surrounding areas. We are very fortunate to have such a great institution and fabulous staff, so close to home. Although our dearest granddaughter passed away there 4 1/2 yrs ago, she had excellent care. Last summer my brother had open heart surgery and I myself had stents put in on May 7th. We both received excellent care. How very fortunate and grateful we are for such wonderful care. THANK YOU ! ❤️💕🥰
