What’s the best way to thank volunteers? It’s simple: just smile, say ‘thank you’ and tell them how their service made a difference to you. A national survey conducted by Volunteer Canada found that 80 percent of volunteers preferred this type of informal recognition.
Did you know?
- TOH had 1,100 volunteers last year at five locations across the three campuses.
- Volunteers gave 149,000 hours of service last year to help drive TOH’s vision.
- When temperatures plunged to minus 28 and there was little heat in the General Campus lobby, one hardy volunteer at the Information Desk donned her parka and continued to help direct patients!
Volunteers are located throughout TOH
- Patient areas: Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, Surgical Day Care, many inpatient and outpatient units, and waiting areas
- Administration: information desks, guides, filing, reminder calls to patients
- Retail activities in the shops and cafes
- Spiritual care, pet therapy and more
Volunteer Resources needs more adult volunteers for weekdays at all sites. Tell a friend or neighbour! Please email volunteering@toh.on.ca
