Riverside physiotherapists specialize in the management of acute orthopedic and surgical conditions. The staff has over 30 years of expertise as community leaders and educators in rehabilitation services. The care team is comprised of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Massage Therapists, Kinesiologists, Rehabilitation Assistants and Physiotherapist Assistants.

What is Episode of Care Physiotherapy?

Episode of Care Physiotherapy is a self-management program. Your physiotherapist will assess your needs and work with you to develop a plan for home exercises and / or community exercise programs to help you achieve your goals.

Who is eligible?

You are eligible for Episode of Care Physiotherapy if you have a referral from a doctor or a nurse practitioner and one of the following:

  • You are 19 years or younger, or
  • You are 65 or older, or
  • You had an overnight stay in the hospital for your condition, or
  • You are on Ontario Disability Support Program or Ontario Works.

What is the cost?

Patients do not pay for these services; they are covered by the provincial government.

What conditions do you treat as part of this program?

  • Acute injuries
  • Post-fracture rehabilitation
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Joint and spinal pain
  • Arthritis
  • Balance and falls issues

How do I make an appointment?

Please call 613-738-8208 or book an appointment in person. Please fax the referral to 613-738-8431, scan and email to rivrehabdept@toh.on.ca prior to your appointment, or bring it in person.

The Ottawa Hospital Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic (Riverside)

Our specialized services include:

  • Post-operative surgical rehabilitation
  • Post-operative and casting fracture rehabilitation
  • Hand therapy (provided by Occupational Therapists)
  • Custom splinting
  • Traumatic injury rehabilitation

What is not covered by our program:

  • Soft-tissue injuries
  • Sub-acute or chronic injuries (over 6 weeks old)
  • Elective surgery rehabilitation
  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation

How do I get an appointment?

Please get a referral from your doctor and fax it to 613-738-8431, scan and email it to rivrehabdept@toh.on.ca, or bring it in person. All referrals are processed in the order in which they are received.
