Occupational Therapists in Canada are university graduates, and have completed a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised fieldwork experience.

There are thirteen universities that offer Occupational Therapy programs (Master’s Degree), across Canada. A professional Master’s degree is the minimum entry requirement for this profession.

Occupational Therapists are regulated health-care professionals in all provinces of Canada. Each province has a council that is responsible for the regulation of Occupational Therapy practice.

In Ontario, all practicing Occupational Therapists must successfully complete the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) Certification Exam and be a member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
