OTTAWA – April 5, 2023 – The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) has partnered with Sienna Senior Living to provide additional care space for patients in our community. The hospital will manage an Off-Site Transitional Care Unit at Aspira Bearbook Retirement Living in Gloucester. Opened in April, the 21-bed unit will be a place for patients to transition from hospital care to long-term care or other care in the community.
“Collaboration opportunities like this help integrate care in the region and ensure that patients get the care they need, in the most appropriate setting,” said Cameron Love, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital. “Following our successful partnership with West End Villa, working with Sienna Senior Living will allow us to further expand our capacity to care for our patients beyond the hospital.”
The unit at Aspira Bearbrook will be a place for Alternate Level of Care (ALC) patients, who no longer require acute-level hospital care, to transition to care in the community and function as a stand-alone space within the retirement home. This partnership will help relieve hospital pressures by improving access to care and patient flow between the hospital and the senior living sector.
