Hepatitis Program

Overview

World-class hepatitis care that is coordinated, easy to access and free of judgment.

The Ottawa Hospital’s Hepatitis Program is also the Regional Hepatitis Program.  It provides care for people who are at high risk of, or have been diagnosed with, hepatitis B or hepatitis C.

Dr. Curtis Cooper leads a dedicated team of nurses, social workers, psychologists and specialists in hepatology, infectious diseases and internal medicine that works together to create a unique treatment plan for every patient.

Our team offers treatment through in-hospital visits, virtual clinics and  community clinics.

Virtual clinics

Patients who live outside Ottawa and Nunavut, or who don’t have local access to viral hepatitis care, can access our program through virtual clinics hosted by the Ontario Telemedicine Network. Dr. Sarah Mansour, a specialist in infectious diseases, and a nurse, are dedicated to this program.

Partnerships in the community

We work closely with community health centres, public health units and local health-care providers to support patients. This partnership helps ensure that every person in our program receives world-class care that is coordinated, easy to access and free of judgment.

Referrals

Patients can be referred by a physician (preferred) or they can call the program coordinator to see if the program is right for them.
