Overview

The Ottawa Hospital’s  Adult Epilepsy Program currently operates as a district epilepsy center according to the Ontario Epilepsy Strategy.

We currently provide access to specialized epilepsy care, as well as neurodiagnostic evaluations, neuropsychological services, and noninvasive evaluations for epilepsy surgeries. We have a two-bed inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) to help diagnose epilepsies resistant to medications.

Patients who need further surgical care for their epilepsy are referred to the regional epilepsy surgical centres in either Toronto, ON or London, ON.

The program brings together dynamic and compassionate epilepsy specialists, neuropsychologists, specialized nurses, as well as EEG technologists, all with training and expertise in the field of epilepsy.

We work closely with the faculty of our partner institution, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, so that young adults who were treated in their family-centered environment have a smooth transition to a more patient-centered practice.
