Research is key in advancing medicine and improving care. Our team is heavily involved in both clinical and basic research. You may therefore be approached to see if you are interested in participating in one of our research projects. Of course, this is completely voluntary!

We conduct clinical research where for example we try to determine the best management for women and their babies in situations where the mother has high blood pressure.

Dr Gruslin also has a Placenta Lab where she investigates why and how the placenta develops and grows. As a result her team has previously identified an important gene for fetal growth. More recently, the research team has also identified a protein which can be measured in blood during early pregnancy and which can help us predict the risk of fetal growth restriction.

The current team is composed of Dr Yockell Lelievre PhD (Research Associate), Mr D. Tessier (PhD candidate), Mr Z. Ferraro (PhD candidate), Christina Ly (Master’s student) and Kendra Brett (Master student). We work closely with Dr. S Bainbridge (PhD). Our clinical researchers include Dr F. Moretti, Dr V. Bohemier, Dr M. Gagne, Dr N. Fatham and Dr S. Rahal.
