Salary Range
$ 131,872.65 to 160,438.20/year

Position Information
The Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) provides a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional services to the Hospital and its community. In addition to its clinical responsibilities, DMI is affiliated with the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine program supporting its Radiology Residency Training Program, as well as many other affiliated universities, colleges and educational institutions providing training opportunities for its staff members. The DMI’s professional teams conduct research studies that assist in the development and progress of imaging services and imaging technologies.
The Manager, MRI and Breast Imaging is responsible for the effective management of cross-campus MRI as well as both screening and diagnostic breast imaging. The Manager will oversee day-to-day departmental operations, including budgeting, and business objectives, and will work with their team to maintain and improve the patient experience, ensuring patients’ safety and satisfaction. They also develop workflow operations, new standards of practice/service for the department or program, ensure the quality of services, and work with their leadership team to improve operations.
The Manager will work collaboratively with other members of the Medical Imaging management team, and other staff members to address both business and clinical needs in providing high quality services. The manager will apply learning and accountability consistent with a just culture, provide staff with written instruction on safety precautions where appropriate, ensure that staff adhere to standards of safe work and patient care, and will close the loop on staff and patient safety issues to ensure continuous improvement.
This position will also be integral to upholding the vision of TOH, to provide each patient with the world-class care, exceptional service and compassion that we would want for our loved ones.
What you will bring
- Three (3) years undergraduate degree in Business or related healthcare administration;
- Five (5) years of management experience in healthcare, preferably in a hospital;
- Significant experience in the areas of operations, project and financial management;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Experience in finance and basic accounting, project management or equivalent experience;
- Strong leadership skills;
- Strong working knowledge of current technical methods and standards in Medical Imaging;
- Knowledge of WHMIS;
- Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act;
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act;
- Knowledge of the appropriate Collective Agreement for technologists (OPSEU);
- Knowledge of The Ottawa Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures;
- Good knowledge of strategic planning;
- Intermediate level of computer literacy (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Excel, E-mail);
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills in dealing with all levels of staff;
- Excellent organization skills, time management skills and task prioritization skills in dealing with fluctuating deadlines and competing priorities;
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, facilitation, conflict resolution, and coaching skills;
- Excellent information gathering, analysis, and problem-solving skills;
- Change management skills;
- Attention to details required to plan and develop new/enhanced services;
- Excellent decision-making and judgment;
- Ability to work as a team and independently;
- Ability to meet deadlines;
- Sound technical/clinical judgment;
- Committed to professional development to remain current in the field.
You will stand out with
- Experience in a leadership role, preferably in a unionized healthcare facility;
- Experience in a multi-site environment;
- Experience in managing a large mixed workforce (i.e. labor relations, grievance resolution, dealing with role confusion/change) with a recognition of the impacts on players within
- Experience in the areas of operations management, financial management (i.e.: budgeting, equipment negotiation/purchasing);
- Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 – advanced) and comprehension (level 4 – advanced).
