Michael Tremblay

Michael Tremblay is President and CEO of CANARIE, Canada’s National Research and Education Network (NREN), where he leads the vision of building a trusted, globally connected digital research ecosystem. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Governors of The Ottawa Hospital, helping to guide one of Canada’s leading healthcare institutions.
Throughout his career, Michael has held senior leadership positions at the intersection of technology, innovation, and community impact. He previously served as President of Calian’s IT & Cyber Solutions division, CEO of Invest Ottawa, and in executive roles at Microsoft, SAP, and Fujitsu. Across these organizations, he has been recognized for his ability to build teams, foster collaboration, and drive transformation.
Michael is deeply committed to growing leaders from all walks of life. He believes that diverse perspectives and shared values create the strongest foundations for innovation and resilience. His work is guided by three commitments: enabling research and innovation to strengthen Canada’s competitiveness, championing healthcare excellence through governance and community leadership, and building inclusive teams that thrive in a complex world.
