September 9, 2014 — On behalf of The Ottawa Hospital family, I want to express our condolences to Laurie’s family, friends and colleagues.

This tragedy has touched us all and words cannot capture the sorrow we feel. Laurie was one of our own.

Laurie was a talented, bright, lovely woman with so many positive things in her life.

True to form, Laurie participated in the Ride the Rideau event every year since its inception; and was a passionate supporter of both, our foundation and our hospital. In fact, it’s through committed supporters, such as Laurie, that over the last five years we have become a world leader in cancer research. And in turn, our patients receive world-class cancer care.

I am proud to have known Laurie and I know I speak for many when I say that she will be missed.
