Hospital property is smole-free. We all breathe the same air.

As of January 1st 2018, all hospital property in Ontario is entirely smoke free. This is a new provincial law that affects all hospitals in Ontario, including all three of The Ottawa Hospital’s campuses.

All of the hospital’s former designated smoking areas have been removed and can’t be used for smoking anymore. Anyone wishing to smoke must now leave hospital property.

Where can patients and visitors go to smoke?

  • Civic Campus – cigarette butt receptacles have been placed on Carling Ave. and Ruskin Ave.
  • Riverside Campus – Riverside Drive or Smyth Road
  • General Campus – Smyth Road, Roger Guindon Avenue

What about cars and parking lots?

Smoking in cars and in parking lots is not permitted on hospital property.

What do I need to know?

  • More information, directions and maps are available from volunteer services
  • You may be fined $305 for smoking on hospital property.
