Patient, Family Member and Caregiver Education, Information & Resources

An Ottawa Hospital volunteer is showing someone a printed brochure in the Patient & Family Support and Resources Centres

In honour of Ninon Bourque

When diagnosed with cancer, you, your family members or caregivers may have many questions and concerns.   The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Program is committed to ensuring you have easy access to accurate and up to date information that will help you during this time.  The resources shared here can help you better understand cancer, its diagnosis, treatment and how to live with the disease.  It is meant to add to the information you will get from your healthcare team.

In addition to the information you will find here, we encourage you to visit one of our Patient & Family Support and Resources Centres to access print-based information and resources. Our team of volunteers are available to help you and your family access information (online or in print) on a variety of topics including:

  • Understanding your diagnosis and treatment
  • Managing your symptoms and help deal with emotions
  • Stopping or reduce smoking
  • Documenting your care wishes (Advanced Care Planning)
  • Accessing information on classes and support groups
  • Helping you connect to the Canadian Cancer Society resources
