Esophageal Function Laboratory

Overview

The Esophageal Laboratory performs tests to assess the functioning of the esophagus and stomach. Special monitor probes are inserted via the nasal passage into the esophagus and stomach. The probes monitor the acidity of the stomach secretions and the activity of the muscles lining the esophagus and stomach. The results are mailed to the patient’s physician.
