Position Information
The Manager of Regional Digital Education and Training is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and delivery of Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) education across the regional health system. This role ensures that clinical and administrative staff are proficient in using Epic to support safe, efficient, and high-quality care. The manager will oversee training initiatives for new implementations, upgrades, and ongoing optimization, driving adoption and digital transformation across all health partners site across Atlas Alliance.
The Manager will lead the adoption and optimization of EMR training programs, setting new standards for digital health education and delivering learner-centric education that is flexible, scalable, and tailored to diverse adult healthcare professionals.
In addition, the Manager will oversee day-to-day departmental operations, including budgeting, and business objectives. This role leads a team and is accountable for the management of workload assignments, performance evaluation, career management, employee support, and engagement.
The Manager is responsible for applying learning and accountability consistent with a just culture, providing staff with written instruction on safety precautions where appropriate, ensuring that staff adhere to standards of safe work and patient care where applicable, and closing the loop on staff and patient safety issues to ensure continuous improvement.
What you will do
- Develop and execute a regional EMR education strategy aligned with organizational goals and digital health priorities;
- Collaborate with Epic analysts, clinical informatics teams, and operational leaders to identify training needs and opportunities for workflow optimization;
- Design, implement, and evaluate EMR training programs for diverse user groups including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff;
- Oversee the creation of digital learning materials, e-learning modules, simulation labs, and in-person workshops;
- Delivering on Atlas Alliance SLAs and partner expectations;
- Recruit, interview, and hire staff, ensuring adequate staffing based on needs assessment, departmental standards, and regional health partner requirements;
- Address performance issues appropriately, up to and including disciplinary action and mandatory reporting to the regulatory body when applicable;
- Oversee daily functioning of the department and ensure that staff are providing excellent service by fostering an approach and attitude of courtesy, fairness, respect, dignity, and compassion;
- Provide professional leadership to the department staff in terms of evaluating performance, professional development, coaching, mentoring, and discipline of staff members;
- Develop and implement an effective employee orientation plan, training plan, and staff development opportunities;
- Create a positive work environment and culture, provide clear objectives, and ensure that subordinates are provided with the support necessary to deliver the expectations of their roles;
- Ensure staff maintain compliance with TOH policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and professional standards that are applicable to their role/functional area;
- Educate staff regarding policies, legislation, processes, and procedures to ensure understanding and compliance;
- Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors through regular monitoring of health and safety concerns, prompt investigation and follow up of health and safety problems, and adherence to health and safety legislation;
- Support team to improve delivery of service relevant to their functional area, workforce optimization, and department/program/unit reviews;
- Monitor adoption metrics and user proficiency to inform ongoing training needs;
- Build collaborative and positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous process improvement/standardization, and to maintain awareness of new trends, controls, processes, and requirements;
- Advocate for and provide technical support to corporate initiatives related to their functional area and quality improvement;
- Influence decision-making processes and final outcome by providing detailed analysis/models, innovative recommendations, and expert advice to management, executives.
What you will bring
- Minimum four (4) year University Degree in Health Informatics, Nursing, Health Discipline, Education, or related field;
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with EMR implementation and optimization;
- Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience in a Hospital with shared health information system;
- Strong understanding of EMR systems and clinical workflows;
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills;
- Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design;
- Project management and change management skills;
- Familiarity with digital education platforms and Learning Management Systems (LMS);
- Leadership and team management abilities.
You will stand out with
- Masters Degree in a Health Informatics, Education, or related field;
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system certification;
- Five (5) years of experience in providing/creating Electronic Medical Record (EMR) training or clinical informatics;
- Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
