$52.117 to 63.046/hour

Position Information

The Profession Leader is a member of the Ottawa Hospital Health Professional Practice Management Team and provides discipline-specific professional leadership in one or more of the following professions: social work, spiritual care, psychology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech-language pathology, audiology, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, medical radiation technology, and medical radiation therapy.

The Profession Leader is responsible for ensuring that the delivery of discipline-specific patient care in NICU and SCN is consistent with professional practice standards and regulatory requirements; and for collaborating with other health professionals to ensure that the service delivery is safe, high quality, and efficient. Key areas of activity include work related to strategic and operational planning, resource allocation, utilization monitoring, quality initiatives and corporate liabilities including legal and labour relations and human resource related matters. The position provides coordination of daily operational requirements, under the direction of the Manager, Professional Practice. This position plays a key role in developing and delivering portfolio related communications in various formats.

Temporary until approximately March 31, 2026.

What you will bring

  • Completion of a recognized Diploma/Degree from an accredited program in the assigned Allied Health Profession (i.e Respiratory Therapy) plus combination of experience or Master’s Degree in a health profession, business or health administration;
  • Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO);
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in group leadership;
  • Familiarity with the principals of budgeting and financial management within the public sector;
  • Knowledge of Hospital and healthcare business;
  • Knowledge of Hospital and departmental policies and procedures;
  • Expert user of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing;
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff;
  • Proven experience implementing and evaluating business plans;
  • Familiarity with the public health care sector;
  • Excellent communication skills, including a professional demeanor and approach;
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication;
  • Ability to interact with large groups, including presentation preparation and delivery;
  • Group facilitation and adult education skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and to maintain strict confidentiality when appropriate;
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and crisis;
  • Ability to implement, facilitate, and lead change;
  • Active participation in work related initiatives.

You will stand out with

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field;
  • Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
