Project Manager, New Campus Development

Salary Range
$104,677.95 to $127,350.60/annum
Position Information
The Project Manager leads the planning and delivery of strategic projects/initiatives related to TOH’s New Campus Development (NCD), coordinates the delivery of assigned projects tasks, and ensures delivery within scope, budget, and requirements.
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Project Manager:
- Manages the planning and delivery related to new campus programs as part of the NCD development that are of strategic importance to the Hospital.
- Manages several projects and initiatives within the assigned portfolio, supporting a culture of innovation and data-informed decision-making at the Hospital.
- Key duties include planning, contract administration, scheduling, supervision, and comprehensive reporting.
- The projects involve a heavy amount of engagement and collaboration with project teams, management team, senior leaders, physicians across The Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, University of Ottawa Heart Institute and external stakeholders.
- Acts as the resource person for various Committees associated with the project and is responsible for stakeholder engagement, workplan development, ensuring that milestones are met and that the project are achieving their objectives.
- Develops project strategies, frameworks and recommendations based on a strong understanding of evaluation principles.
- Maintaining communication between construction managers, consultants, contractors, and hospital leadership, and ensuring that every aspect of the development is executed with precision and accordance with regulatory standards.
What you will bring
- 4-year Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or Engineering or an equivalent mix of education and work experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years recent experience in project construction management, implementing quality improvement strategies and change management.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience guiding project teams.
- Expertise and understanding of the entire construction process including pre-construction through to project completion.
- Experience in reading construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong background in commercial/institutional construction.
- Strong knowledge of coordinating various teams, monitoring progress, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring that timelines and budgets are adhered to.
- Expertise and knowledge of professional practice.
- Strong experience of managing strategic projects, championing change and adaptability to changing environment.
- Understanding of program planning principles, design development process and operational readiness principles.
- Ability to build strong relationships with project teams, business stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership team.
- Experience with preparing and delivering presentations, with report writing, writing briefing notes for Senior Management and with implementing and evaluating business plans.
- Advanced proficiency with computer applications: Microsoft Office applications in particular – MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, along with ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders and to manage client relationships and expectations.
- Ability to implement, facilitate, lead change, and to propose process improvements and value-added initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, combined with excellent organizational skills to include the ability to chair and facilitate meetings with stakeholders.

- A Master’s degree in business administration or other related discipline.
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Experience with new hospital development processes.
