Salary Range

$125,215.350 to $152,337.900/year

Position Information

At the heart of the vision of The Ottawa Hospital in providing exceptional and compassionate care are our people. The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a Manager of Talent Acquisition who is at the helm of attracting and selecting candidates who will continue to propel the Hospital towards this vision.

The Manager of Talent Acquisition will provide dynamic leadership of a strategic recruitment function focused on attracting and retaining the best talent to meet current and future human resources needs.  The Manager will provide expert guidance and leadership to a team of in-house recruiters, ensuring they are efficient, and client focused while executing optimal sourcing strategies. The Manager will leverage progressive tools and techniques to enhance The Ottawa Hospital’s brand awareness, diversity and inclusion practices, and focus on providing an exceptional candidate experience. 

Reporting to the Director, Talent Acquisition and Optimization, the Manager will contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement, and best practice initiatives to continually improve on processes aimed at sourcing exceptional candidates, engaging hiring leaders while decreasing cost and time to hire. The Manager provides subject matter expertise to hiring leaders, Human Resources Business Partners and other areas of Human Resources on the impacts of recruitment/business needs.

What you will do

  • Develop talent attraction, acquisition, engagement and retention strategies;
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to all levels of management in all aspects of the recruitment function ensuring appropriate recruitment strategies are developed;
  • Ensure current and future human resources needs are met with a particular focus on critical and hard-to-fill roles including both unionized and management positions;
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of organizational stakeholders in diagnosing employee engagement and retention related issues and recommending potential solutions for executing corporate organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Union partners;
  • Keep the pulse on progressive tools and techniques influencing talent attraction trends in the marketplace
  • Provide leadership, training, coaching, and direction to the Talent Acquisition Team;
  • Educate staff regarding new policies, collective agreement language, legislation, processes and procedures to ensure understanding;
  • Monitor metrics related to the recruitment function and seeks out innovative ways to improve service, processes, and candidate experience and implements them as necessary;
  • Develop and deliver training workshops to ensure knowledge transfer to new and aspiring leaders at TOH;
  • Lead/coordinate complex human resources projects as determined by organizational priorities
  • Liaise and manage effective communication and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders for the smooth, efficient and effective delivery of services;
  • Establish and maintain strong external relationships with multiple stakeholders.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, or other related discipline;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of human resources;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management experience;
  • Experience working in a large, complex, highly unionized organization;
  • Experience in providing or overseeing full cycle recruitment;
  • Previous relevant experience in the area of talent attraction and retention;
  • Strong knowledge of diversity, recognition programs and HR industry trends;
  • Proven experience in the area of project management, including project scoping and planning, stakeholder engagement, project execution and project close-out;
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop and assess solutions and provide recommendations in a clear and compelling manner;
  • Proven ability to lead with focus, including strong prioritization, planning and follow-through abilities;
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with others and foster collaboration;
  • Ability to develop self and others, including providing effective feedback and coaching.
