Occupational Therapists in Canada are university graduates and have completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised fieldwork experience.
There are thirteen universities that offer Occupational Therapy programs (master’s degree), across Canada. A professional master’s degree is the minimum entry requirement for this profession.
Occupational Therapists are regulated health-care professionals in all provinces of Canada. Each province has a council that is responsible for the regulation of Occupational Therapy practice.
In Ontario, all practicing Occupational Therapists must successfully complete the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy certification exam and be a member of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
Student placements

Student placements are also offered for those studying to be a rehabilitation assistant. Placements at The Ottawa Hospital are available in English and French.
