This clinic specializes in assessing and treating clients with various acute conditions involving joints, muscles, nerves and bones. 

Services

Occupational therapy at Riverside Outpatient Clinic focuses on conditions affecting the hand, wrist and forearm. Treatment plans are tailored to each client’s goals and adjusted as recovery progresses. Therapy may include:

  • Custom or modified splints to support healing and prevent re-injury.
  • Exercises to improve movement, strength, sensation and comfort.
  • Scar management and strategies for daily hand use.
  • Education about the condition, recovery process and timelines.
  • Home programs designed and updated to support progress. 

Eligibility and costs

Occupational therapy services at Riverside Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic are publicly funded for eligible patients referred internally from The Ottawa Hospital. These services are covered by the provincial government. Splints and materials are not covered by OHIP but may be reimbursed through extended health plans.

Referrals

All patients must be referred to the Occupational Therapy Clinic by a physician. All referrals are processed in the order they are received and according to our priority criteria.
