Overview

The Ottawa Hospital’s Nephrology Program offers a broad range of services to those affected by kidney diseases.

The Nephrology Program at The Ottawa Hospital is one of the largest in Canada and provides care for people living with kidney disease. We support patients from Ottawa and across Eastern Ontario. Our renal transplant program also acts as a tertiary referral centre for people from the Renfrew and Sudbury areas.

The program offers many types of kidney care, including dialysis, transplantation and specialized clinics at the Jindal Kidney Care Centre. Most inpatient care is at the General Campus.

Dialysis care

Dialysis services have recently moved from Fresenius Medical Care to The Ottawa Hospital and Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Medical records were safely transferred as part of this process. Patient privacy is always a top priority, and all necessary precautions were taken when making this transfer.

Who we serve

We care for people with a wide range of kidney conditions, including:

  • Chronic kidney disease.
  • Advanced or progressive kidney failure.
  • High blood pressure related to kidney disease.
  • People who may need or already receive dialysis.

Patients may be seen in hospital, in clinic or through home dialysis programs depending on their needs.
