Nephrology

Physicians participate in each of three spheres of activity: clinical care, education and research conducted mostly at The Kidney Research Centre. 

Registered nurses and registered practical nurses care for patients in hemodialysis, transplantation, home dialysis, ambulatory care and inpatient units.

Nursing staff receive ongoing training and education related to kidney care.  They are encouraged to become involved in professional associations such as the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists (CANNT).

Depending on your needs, you may also work with:

• Social workers.
• Dietitians.
• Pharmacists.
• Dialysis technologists.
• Spiritual care practitioners.
• Infection control nurse.
• Dialysis access nurses.
• Living donor and recipient coordinators.

A strong clinical administrative team helps coordinate care and includes a clinical director, clinical managers, advanced practice nurses, a technical manager, nurse educators, quality improvement staff, a chronic kidney disease prevention management project lead, clerical staff and nursing aides.
