The Ottawa Hospital is the host site for the Champlain Regional Stroke Centre, part of the Ontario Stroke System. The Champlain Regional Stroke Network is one of 11 stroke networks in Ontario, working to improve stroke care across the Champlain region. The network is supported by CorHealth Ontario and guided by the Champlain Regional Stroke Network Steering Committee.
Our vision is to have fewer strokes and better outcomes. Our mission is to continuously improve stroke prevention, care, recovery and re-integration.
Our role
The Champlain Regional Stroke Network leads and coordinates stroke care across the region, ensuring services follow best practices and evidence-based guidelines. The network supports care across the full stroke continuum—from prevention to recovery and reintegration.
The Ottawa Hospital Stroke Prevention Clinic
The Ottawa Hospital Stroke Prevention Clinic (SPC) provides quick assessment and access to diagnostic services and treatment for patients at high risk of having a stroke.
Referrals
Referral criteria
- Patients with symptoms of stroke or TIA who have not yet seen a neurologist.
- Patients with concerning stroke risk factors.
- Quebec patients referred by an emergency department physician or specialist.
Patients must be referred by medical doctors or nurse practitioners only.
