Phlebotomy Clinic

Overview

The Phlebotomy Clinic at The Ottawa Hospital is staffed by nurses who provide treatment prescribed by your doctor.

Many people with hemochromatosis or polycythemia need regular phlebotomy, often once a week, to lower the amount of red blood cells or iron in their blood.

During treatment, your blood tests are checked closely to see how well the phlebotomies are working. When your levels return to normal, your care moves to the Hematology and Thrombosis Clinic.

Referrals

All patients must be referred by a physician.
