Urology – Department of Surgery
Overview
The Division of Urology (Urological Surgery) is a surgical Division within the Department of Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital. The Division is a fully integrated clinical, research and teaching program which provides surgical management of diseases of the genitourinary (GU) tract (kidneys, bladder, prostate, testicles, penis & and urethra) in the male and urinary tract (kidneys, bladder & urethra) in the female. The 13 urological surgeons in the Division treat approximately 40,000 patients annually with high-level care in all sub-specialty areas of urology.
The Division has a 5-year postgraduate urology specialty training program fully accredited by The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, and the Division’s program currently has the highest level of accreditation available. The Division is very active in undergraduate medical education and teaches medical students from the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Ottawa as well as elective students (those who request additional exposure to the specialty) from other Universities across Canada.

- Shock Wave Lithotripsy (“blasting” of kidney stones)
- Kidney Transplantation

- Bladder outlet obstruction
- Male Infertility & reproductive medicine
- Male Sexual Health (erectile dysfunction & Peyronie’s disease)
