Audiology

Overview

The Audiology Department at The Ottawa Hospital provides a wide range of clinical services to patients with hearing or ear-related problems. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for each person and family by enhancing the ability to hear, understand and communicate.

Patients may be seen at the Civic Campus or the General Campus, although not all services are available at both locations. While we primarily provide services to outpatients, we also see inpatients.

A person wearing headphones smiles inside a sound booth during a hearing test, while a healthcare professional operates a laptop and records results outside the booth.

Services

Team

Audiologists hold a master’s degree in Audiology from an accredited university program with specialized training in preventing, identifying, assessing, treating and rehabilitating persons with hearing problems, tinnitus and dizziness. They are registered by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO), which is the provincial regulating body for the profession in Ontario.

Audiologists at The Ottawa Hospital work closely with Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) physicians. We also teach and supervise students, and we participate in research.
