What is Ontario Workers Network (OWN)?
The Ontario Workers Network (OWN) is a provincial network of hospitals and experienced care providers that strives to provide world-class care for workers in their own communities. As one of the largest service providers of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), OWN is connected by technology and shared learning. The network allows for collaborative care for injured workers, ensuring we get workers back to work in a timely and safe manner by providing Care Closer To Home.
Our experienced interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, specialty surgeons, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, kinesiologists, psychologists, and other care specialists who work together to provide the highest standards of practice and deliver specialized care to injured workers
The Ottawa Hospital serves two roles in OWN: administrative lead of the network and flagship service provider.
OWN Vision and Mission
Vision:
Through leveraging of partnerships, technology, and shared learning, we aim to be a benchmark in innovation and coordinated delivery of care of injured workers. Ensuring that all workers return to employment in an expedited manner with respect and dignity, enabling their families, their communities, and the economy.
Mission:
To be a compassionate provider of Worker-centered care with an emphasis on world class specialty care for the Workers in Ontario. Through a provincial network of partners, connected by technology and shared learning, workers will be treated in their own communities, with a focus on quality treatment and support to expedite return to work.
Who Pays for My Therapy?
If you were hurt at work, the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) will pay for your therapy, and any equipment your therapist recommends for your treatment. In some cases where an injured worker may not be progressing as expected, WSIB will send the worker for more specialized care to an approved network of providers, such as OWN, to obtain additional treatment.
