L\u2019escalier peut supporter le poids de plusieurs personnes (le physioth\u00e9rapeute peut ainsi accompagner le patient dans l\u2019escalier). Il est durable, efficace, robuste et fabriqu\u00e9 dans les ateliers du Service de technog\u00e9nie pour le tiers du prix des escaliers sur le march\u00e9. Maintenant, le patient peut reprendre des forces graduellement jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019il puisse gravir des escaliers ordinaires avec des marches de 7,5 pouces ou plus.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;Ce qui emp\u00eache souvent les patients de quitter l\u2019h\u00f4pital, c\u2019est qu\u2019ils sont incapables d\u2019entrer dans leur domicile, d\u2019en sortir, ou de se rendre \u00e0 leur chambre et leur salle de bain au 2<sup>e<\/sup> \u00e9tage, explique David Follows, physioth\u00e9rapeute au Centre de r\u00e9adaptation. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cet escalier, le patient commence sa r\u00e9adaptation avec des marches de trois pouces et s\u2019entra\u00eene progressivement \u00e0 monter des marches plus hautes, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019il ait la force n\u00e9cessaire pour gravir des marches ordinaires.&nbsp;\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;La majorit\u00e9 des patients hospitalis\u00e9s et un grand nombre de patients externes utilisent notre escalier, ajoute David.
