La plupart des personnes porteuses de la bact\u00e9rie <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> ne d\u00e9veloppent pas d\u2019infection. Toutefois, il arrive parfois qu\u2019une personne d\u00e9veloppe une infection en raison de cette bact\u00e9rie, n\u00e9cessitant ainsi des traitements. La pr\u00e9sence de bact\u00e9ries dans le sang se nomme <strong>bact\u00e9ri\u00e9mie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque les antibiotiques courants ne permettent pas de d\u00e9truire le <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em>, on dit que la bact\u00e9rie est \u00ab r\u00e9sistante \u00bb, et on l\u2019appelle alors <strong>SARM<\/strong>. SARM est l\u2019abr\u00e9viation de <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> <strong>r\u00e9sistant \u00e0 la m\u00e9thicilline<\/strong>. Les infections caus\u00e9es par le SARM ne sont pas plus graves que celles qui sont caus\u00e9es par la bact\u00e9rie <em>Staphylococcus aureus <\/em>ordinaire.
