Thursday, July 4, 2019: The Ontario Ministry of Health announced a planning grant for the construction of The Ottawa Hospital\u2019s new campus, marking an important next step in one of Ontario\u2019s largest upcoming infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The planning grant will allow the hospital\nto move to the next phase of planning the new health-care facility that will\nreplace the aging Civic Campus. The\nnew campus will be the location of eastern Ontario\u2019s Regional Trauma Centre,\nand will be the centre for complex, specialized care for patients in Ottawa,\neastern Ontario, western Quebec, and parts of Nunavut<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon, they\u2019ll build on this legacy in a 21st<\/sup>-century\nfacility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are five total planning stages in the\nMinistry of Health\u2019s capital projects process. During the second stage, the\nhospital will develop the \u2018functional program\u2019 for the new campus. This builds\non the work done earlier in the project and adds more detail about the programs\nthat will be housed at the new campus, including space requirements, major\nequipment, and staffing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, work will move forward in\nmeeting the requirements for rezoning the site put forward by the City of\nOttawa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Ottawa Hospital\u2019s new campus will be\nlocated near the intersection of Carling Ave, and Preston St., bordered by\nPrince of Wales Drive and Maple Lane. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
