On June 1, our\nhospital, and five other health-care organizations in Eastern Ontario launched\nthe Epic digital health network. These health-care partners include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Ottawa Hospital <\/li><li>Hawkesbury and District General Hospital<\/li><li>Renfrew Victoria Hospital<\/li><li>St. Francis Memorial Hospital (in Barry\u2019s Bay)<\/li><li>The Ottawa Hospital Academic Family Health\nTeam<\/li><li>The University of Ottawa Heart Institute<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Epic\nushers in a new era of patient-centred care. It uses the latest technology to securely store, organize, and access\npatient records while maintaining patient privacy. Epic gives your care team\nthe information they need at their fingertips.&nbsp;\nIn short, Epic brings your care into the digital age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the moment you arrive to the moment you are\ndischarged, Epic will improve your experience and help our staff, and staff at\nfive other health-care partners, provide seamless care to you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><\/p><cite> Epic ushers in a new era of patient-centered care. <\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our\nstaff has completed extensive online and in-class training to prepare for the\nlaunch of Epic. They have also practiced using Epic in a simulated environment,\nand much more. They will continue to receive at-the-elbow support from Super\nUsers and other experts. Still, there will be a learning curve, which may\ncause some processes to take longer than normal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we continue to learn the new\nsystem, we may need to reschedule some appointments to ensure that our staff members\nare able to provide the best care possible. This\nis a good opportunity for patients to sign up for the new MyChart and put their\nname on the cancellation list.&nbsp;Information on how to sign up for MyChart is\non The Ottawa Hospital\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nappreciate your patience as we get to know the system that will serve you\nbetter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Change is in the air at The Ottawa Hospital.
