{"id":38488,"date":"2018-07-18T12:06:04","date_gmt":"2018-07-18T16:06:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/?p=38488"},"modified":"2020-09-25T13:01:12","modified_gmt":"2020-09-25T17:01:12","slug":"the-ottawa-hospital-celebrates-international-hellomynameis-day-july-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/en\/healthy-tomorrows\/the-ottawa-hospital-celebrates-international-hellomynameis-day-july-21\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ottawa Hospital celebrates International #HelloMyNameIs Day, July 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>At last count, 862 people had been photographed for the #HelloMyNameIs campaign, pledging to introduce themselves to patients every time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The international #HelloMyNameIs campaign has taken off at The Ottawa Hospital, with employees, doctors, volunteers and even patient advisors pledging to improve patient care by introducing themselves to patients by name, every time.<\/p>\n<p>The Ottawa Hospital was one of the first in North America to adopt the international <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellomynameis.org.uk\">campaign<\/a>, which started in Britain with Dr. Kate Granger. It honours the fact that patients come to us at the most frightening and vulnerable moments of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIntroducing ourselves seems like such a simple act, but it can have an enormous effect on our patients\u2019 experience of health care,\u201d said Bernie Etzinger, Chief Communications, and Outreach Officer. \u201cIt allows patients to trust their health-care team and helps calm their fears. The impact is truly far-reaching.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/en\/youre-in-my-care\/positive-health-care-staff-help-stuntman-stu-deal-cancer\/\">Patients<\/a> know the kind of exceptional care and compassion that can be expected at The Ottawa Hospital. And thanks to #HelloMyNameIs, we\u2019re making sure the community knows as well.
