We are just at the beginning of a planning process that will result in a final design. We are excited about the journey ahead,\u201d said Katherine Cotton, Chair of the Board of Governors of The Ottawa Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is a great day for health care for Ottawa and the eastern Ontario region,\u201d said Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital. \u201cThe approval from our provincial government to replace the aging Civic Campus is welcome news for our community, patients and health-care providers as together, we plan and build a 21<sup>st<\/sup>-century facility. This new campus will be a cornerstone in our region\u2019s health-care system for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new campus will be the location of eastern Ontario\u2019s Regional Trauma Centre, and will be the centre for complex, specialized care for patients in Ottawa, eastern Ontario, western Quebec, and Nunavut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to thank our dedicated community and our provincial partners for their collaboration and support,\u201d added Cotton. \u201cWe will continue to work together to create a new campus that will serve the people of Ottawa and eastern Ontario for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 31, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greatertogether.ca\/the-new-campus\/\">draft architectural concept<\/a>\u00a0was presented to the community, following feedback from a series of public information sessions.<\/p>\n<p>On February 23, The Ottawa Hospital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/en\/newsroom\/99-year-lease-new-hospital-campus-milestone-health-care-eastern-ontario\/\">signed a 99-year lease<\/a> with the federal government for the site of the former Sir John Carling Building.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next three years, The Ottawa Hospital will work closely with the community, patients and staff, and our government partners to validate and finalize a design for the new campus. Public engagement will take place through three streams \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatertogether.ca\/engage\">online<\/a>, at <a href=\"https:\/\/greatertogether.ca\/get-involved\/#jointhediscussion_wrap\">in-person sessions<\/a>, and through a Campus Engagement Group that will deliberate on a range of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ottawahospital.on.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/What-we-heard-2017-EN.pdf\">questions and issues related to the community<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Together with our community, The Ottawa Hospital will be well-positioned to continue to provide our patients and families with the world-class care, exceptional service and compassion that we would want for our loved ones.
