June 9, 2015 \u2013<\/strong> From June 8 to June 12, The Ottawa Hospital will be holding events across its three campuses and satellite sites for Staff Appreciation Week. Key to these events will be a pizza lunch donated by Gabriel Pizza for the hospital\u2019s over 14,000 employees – that\u2019s 75% of the seats in the Canadian Tire Centre.<\/p>\n

The cornerstone of The Ottawa Hospital is its people: the compassionate staff and talented researchers who never lose sight of who they serve. Every day, these dedicated professionals care for patients who struggle with a difficult diagnosis, a debilitating illness, or a traumatic injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ottawa Hospital has a population equal to that of a small city so it is no small feat for Gabriel Pizza to prepare enough pizza to feed all of our staff,\u201d said Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital. \u201cI truly appreciate their support in recognizing the compassionate, high-quality care that our staff members provide day in and day out.\u201d<\/p>\n

In its second year supporting The Ottawa Hospital\u2019s Staff Appreciation Week, Gabriel Pizza has signed on to provide pizza for an additional five years, highlighting their commitment to the community. Spread out over the week, the pizza franchise will have to call on their Ottawa locations to prepare enough food and deliver it to the hospital throughout the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work being done by staff of The Ottawa Hospital is to be commended,\u201d said George Hanna, President, Gabriel Pizza. \u201cThe Gabriel Pizza family recognizes the hard work and commitment of The Ottawa Hospital staff and is honoured to be part of this annual event.\u00a0 Each day, they support our community and that is an important part of the Gabriel Pizza philosophy.\u201d<\/p>\n

This past month, The Ottawa Hospital celebrated employees who had reached milestones in years worked. 409 employees had achieved 20 and 25 years, 217 achieved 30 and 35 years, and 38 achieved an incredible 40 and 45 years of service. In an age where most people change careers at least once in their lives, these employees have shown their loyalty and dedication to caring for the community.<\/p>\n
