The Ottawa Hospital \u2013 Proposed redevelopment of the Civic Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n

November 3, 2014<\/strong> \u2013 Today\u2019s announcement by the Government of Canada marks the first step in a journey towards the development of a new state-of-the-art hospital and trauma centre on Carling Avenue. \u00a0This landmark decision provides The Ottawa Hospital with the opportunity to begin engaging the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the City of Ottawa and our community in the planning of a new Civic Campus.<\/p>\n

As one of Canada’s largest teaching and research hospitals, The Ottawa Hospital is one of the National Capital Region\u2019s most important assets. As one of the region\u2019s largest employers, it cares for Eastern Ontario’s most critically injured and ill patients, while contributing to improved health care on a global stage.\u00a0 Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital says \u201cThe hospital is also an important component of Ontario\u2019s health research hub, creating a positive impact on the economy, increased knowledge translation and better patient outcomes.\u00a0 A new Civic Campus is an investment in research, education and better patient outcomes for our region.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is fitting that The Ottawa Hospital\u2019s future state-of-the-art campus will be located on a parcel of land that houses another shining example of Canada’s innovation, research and advancement in science,\u201d says Jamie McCracken, Chair of The Ottawa Hospital Board of Governors.\u00a0 \u201cMore than 100 years ago, community leaders of the time designated the land for scientific purposes and I am proud to say that we will carry that legacy forward with the research and care that will one day take place there.\u201d<\/p>\n
