May 31, 2017 <\/strong>\u2013 The Ottawa Hospital has received the highest rating possible by Accreditation Canada – Accredited with Exemplary Standing. Once every four years, hospitals across the country are assessed for their quality of care. During our assessment, Accreditation Canada says patients consistently told surveyors about the excellent care they were receiving and spoke of the compassion they experienced from staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile I have known that The Ottawa Hospital is exceptional for many years, we now officially stand shoulder to shoulder with a select group of academic hospitals in Ontario,\u201d says Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO, The Ottawa Hospital. \u201cWe are the largest hospital in Canada to receive this highest rating. This is indeed very special.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, the hospital continues to demonstrate why it\u2019s a top research and learning hospital. Eighteen research groups, also affiliated with the University of Ottawa, have been awarded nearly $11 million in the most recent project grant competition from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. This represents a success rate of 37 per cent compared to the national average of 21 per cent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ottawa Hospital is one of Canada\u2019s top research and learning hospitals,\u201d says Dr. Duncan Stewart, Executive-Vice President of Research at The Ottawa Hospital and professor of medicine at the University of Ottawa. \u201cThese CIHR results are consistent with our strong performance over many years and reflect the top quality of our science. The exemplary Accreditation designation comes on the heels of The Ottawa Hospital being named one of Canada\u2019s Top Ten Admired Corporate Cultures in the public sector, Forbes 2017 \u2013 Canada Best Employers and recognition from Hire Immigrants Ottawa for our efforts to hire new Canadians.<\/p>\n
